Join the Campaign

I was sitting in my car the other day in the drive-thru for Chick-fil-A. A part from their delicious chicken, they're about the only place in the restaurant biz that makes a melon-free fruitcup. More reasons to love the place. Lubbock has one free-standing Chick-fil-A in the whole city. That's right, ONE. What that means for the on-the-go lovers of its tasty cuisine is that you probably shouldn't take the drive-thru option if you're really hungry. There is always a line of cars around Chick-fil-A, a long line. From the time you spot it and decide to pull in to the time you actually get your food as much as 20 minutes can elapse. This is fine if you have a good book to occupy you, or knitting or something. However, in a city that is rumored to have the most restaurants per capita in the nation (a fact I've only been able to confirm through local sources), I find this unacceptable. With this much traffic and business assailing one tiny location, why on earth wouldn't they build another one? Or two for that matter! I'm hungry NOW!!! And to quote my dear friend, "All I want is Chick-fil-A!"

So, I'm starting a campaign. The Hungry NOW Campaign. Do not be confused. This is not a movement motivated by charitable endeavors. The sole purpose of this campaign is to help the harrassed, time-pressured, Type-A personality people who don't have twenty minutes to spend waiting for those "two crucial pickles". Join me in responding to the "Eat More Chikin'" campaign with a campaign that declares "Build More Chick-fil-A's So I Can!" Join the campaign for people in their cars who are Hungry NOW!

More information at www.hungrynow.com--tshirts, banners, bumperstickers, mugs, canvass tote-bags, onesies and trashy underwear.

Ha Ha! That is too cute! But I completely agree, we have often gone by and seen the long line and proceeded to the mall where we know we can park, go in, order, and be halfway done with our meal before we would ever make it through the drive through at the free standing Chick-fil-a.

And as far as most restaurants per capita... I don't know about nation wide, but state wide the only other city that rivals us is Addison. I know for several reasons--1)my hubby is in the biz, 2) he worked in both Addison and Lubbock, and 3) his little restaurant magazine said so. Therefore it MUST be official.

Did you actually try typing in www.hungrynow.com to see where it would take you? I did. :)

Melinda, I did!!! And nobody seems to own that domain name, so I'm not plagiarizing . . . I hope! :)

You have made me really hungry for a chick-fil-a, but we don't have one here. Could you bring me something?

Well, as a former employee, I'd just like to say... Eat somewhere else!! Okay, I know you're not seriously going to do that, so here's my two cents' worth of insider advice. CFA headquarters have been looking at Lubbock, considering putting another store in, for years. Your letters and continual harassment may make the difference in their minds. And if not, you'll probably get some coupons.

Also, if you go in the afternoon (about 2:30 to just before 5) on most days, you will get in and out much more quickly.

Finally (Amy), CFA tried going internationally once and it didn't work out. IMO, that's because they chose a lousy spot for their first international store. So once again I say, harass them.

As a fellow lover of Chick-fil-a and connoisseur of the melon-free fruit salad (DEATH to all melons - that is another campaign I would like considered as well), I say with a loud and ferverant voice - BRAVO!! It is about time someone sticks up for us!!! Thank you for standing up for the downtrodden. I believe once your campaign is well established I will begin my own, there is only 2 CFAs as far as I know in the Denver area and neither of them are near me. I can see it now: www.hungrynow.com/colorado
